7 Tips To Help You Move

7 Tips To Help You Move

As a parent, even of older kids, it can be exhausting attempting to organize your life. Your kids are running around, you have toys and gaming stations overflowing in every room and you just can never find those two socks to match no matter how hard you try. The number one important thing you can do is get yourself organized to make it easier on yourself. Once you get your life organized before your move, you can easily set you and your family up for success and it’s a lot easier than you think too with these helpful tips and tricks! Below are some things that can help you!

  1. Do A Huge Purge: This is a great way to go through all of the items you’ve accumulated over the years or anything you have duplicates of and donate or get rid of them. Take your time and go room by room with a few various boxes to help you sort. Make one box for donating, one box for giving away and one for throwing away. This makes it easier when you begin to organize and sort through your things.

  2. Start Collecting Boxes ASAP: Make sure the boxes you are getting are study and different sizes. If you aren’t sure where to look, check your local Facebook neighborhood group or see if any neighbors are getting rid of them. Finding them this way is a lot cheaper then purchasing them through Amazon. These are also nice boxes are will weather in the move so you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on something you are just going to be needing one time.

  3. Use Towels To Pack Breakable Items: A hack a friend shared with me is using the endless of amount of dishtowels I have for good use. Packing up breakable items with these dish towels not only can save mem only on wrapping paper but it also helps keep these items safe during the move.

  4. Use Different Color Duct Tape: One way to organize your boxes once you have all your items that you are wanting in each box is to color code them. There are different ways to do it but I find a very simple way is to use duct tape to help you know what box goes where. Use these colors for different areas of your home on where they should be put. Pink can be for the kitchen, green can be for bedrooms and orange could be for the basement.

  5. Clean As You Go: This is more for your mental health than anything but as you begin to declutter, throw away and get rid of your the items you’ll probably be leaving a huge mess. Clean as you go to help you not make a bigger mess then you are. Once you are done with a room, dust the empty shelves, the dressers and wipe down the mirrors.

  6. Pack Items You Need In A Small Suitcase: One of the biggest mistakes I’ve done is forget to pack items that it’ll need right away in my new place. These items can include a few changes of clothes, blanket and pillow, snacks, soap, shampoo, toilet paper and a book since I’m sure the internet won’t be up for a few days prior to you moving in.
